Has #lovewins Really Won?

Has #lovewins Really Won?

So, the Supreme Court of the United States has legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. Fine-as much as I disagree with the decision, there isn’t much I can do. But what I can do is bring to light the war that the proponents of same-sex marriage is waging upon true followers of Christ and hold to a one-man and one-woman view of marriage-the “traditional” view of marriage that is.

After doing some research, I have found a prominent story that the left-wing media doesn’t wish to talk about because it could, I believe, hurt the overall public opinion they have that supports same-sex marriage. Read the story here:

What upsets me the most is the loss of respect for differing opinions. A person does not surrender their beliefs simply because they became a business owner. This is an issue that can affect all of us as Americans. This is the beginning of the erosion of our First Amendment rights-a right that has been held as sacrosanct since it was written. If the proponents of same-sex marriage were really all about love, then their “love” would extend to all those around them-not just with those that agree with them. Supporters are also quick to use biblical support and Jesus’ words of love to try and counter the Christian’s arguments against same-sex marriage. Well, in this case, I would also like to point out to them that Jesus also said to “love those who don’t like you and disagree with you-for what reward is there in loving those who already love you?” The couple who brought this complaint aren’t about love for others, they are only about love for themselves-if they were really all about love they would have seen the damage they have done to this family and realize the wrecked future they have caused for this couple’s children.
But I digress.

My issue is with the state of affairs with the government of Oregon and its involvement with the Basic Rights Group, a gay rights group. It seems that the Oregon Bureau of Labor has become the “Party” that is in George Orwell’s novel, 1984. Here is the link to the Spark Notes summary of the book:

The Party is involved with controlling everything from history to language. They even implement something called “Newspeak” which makes sure that everyone toes the party line on every issues. This starting to sound familiar? Sounds like the above story, doesn’t it? I’m just afraid this is the start of a stone going down a very slippery slope…
To all my fellow believers out there: Do not respond in anger to those who do this. Respond in love. Being a follower of Christ does not mean you have to lay down and roll over and take these issues. God does want you to fight back-but do it with love. He has given you the target to lock on to-remember Ephesians 6:12:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
And the Holy Spirit has prepared us for that battle. We are not fighting against people, but rather Satan and his minions and the sins they use is what we are fighting against. Here is the weapons that the Holy Spirit has given us:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ”
-2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Read the Scriptures. Read viewpoints and historical facts outside of the Bible that gives support to the Biblical views and doctrines that we hold to. It’s all out there. But I must encourage you, my fellow believers to hold this thought in their heads when they come across people who are hostile to the Christian worldview:

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.”
                                                                                                                          -1 John 4:7-21

By doing all this, we can heap coals upon those people who wish to show that our beliefs are acts of wrongdoing.
I don’t believe that the chant of the supporters of same-sex marriage, which is #lovewins, has really won. But I firmly believe that God’s love will firmly triumph overall the darkness in the world and bring those people who are against God back into a right relationship with Him.
